County Camogie Champions Roinn A

On the 28th May at 1pm we played in the Cumann na mBunscol Roinn A Cup Final against St. Mary’s of Ballygunner. They gave us a huge challenge and are a very strong team with many amazing players. We were nervous when the ball was thrown and not even Abbie’s point in the first minute could settle us. Our amazing goal keeper Sinead denied many Ballygunner chances.

It was neck and neck at half time but we pulled through in the end with a score of 2-04 to 1-03. When the final whistle blew, we were all buzzing and it was worth every training session we attended throughout the year. The whole school was delighted, there was even a few tears shed. It was a true team effort from all our players, a special mention to our only 4th class player June O’ Donovan who shone from midfield on the day.

It was an amazing experience to stand in Walsh Park and play in a final. We would like to thank our coaches Ms. Heylin, Mrs. King, Mr. Fanning and Ms. Jacob for all their time, dedication and amazing coaching we would never have gotten this far without them and to our school St. Ursula’s for all their support. We’d also like to thank referee Seanie Molloy who was very fair and let the game flow. It was an honour to play in the final in Walsh Park and we can’t wait to play in the county final next week in Dungarvan.

This report was collaboratively written by our 6th class players Ciara, Chloe, Megan, Charlotte, Emma, Molly, Carly, Abbie, Millie and Liz.
